Journal of Feminist Studies in Religion (JFSR)
The oldest interdisciplinary, interreligious feminist academic journal in religious studies, the JFSR is a channel for the publication of feminist scholarship in religion and a forum for discussion and dialogue among women and men of differing feminist perspectives. The JFSR has two parents: the academy, in which it is situated, and the feminist movement, from which it draws its nourishment and vision. Its editors are committed to rigorous thinking and analysis in the service of the transformation of religious studies as a discipline and the feminist transformation of religious and cultural institutions.
On June 12, 2005, the Journal of Feminist Studies in Religion celebrated its 20th anniversary with a conference and panel of speakers. Prominent scholars and current students participated in a discussion of the past, present, and future significance of the journal within the fields of religion and feminism. Among the speakers were Judith Plaskow, Manhattan College; Elisabeth Schüssler Fiorenza, Harvard Divinity School; Emilie Townes (WSRP 2001-02), Yale Divinity School; and Elizabeth Pritchard (MTS '91), Bowdoin College. The event was sponsored by the Journal of Feminist Studies in Religion, Inc., and the Women's Studies in Religion Program at Harvard Divinity School.
