Description

A close reading of Exodus 13:17-15:21 in two contexts, that of the Hebrew Bible (together with its ancient Near Eastern background) and that of rabbinic Judaism. Ample Hebrew readings in both biblical texts and rabbinic midrash. Prerequisites: an introductory course in the critical study of the Hebrew Bible and a solid command of Hebrew grammar (any period). ThM students may use this course to meet an area 1 or area 3 requirement.
