Description

This course will address the practical as well as theoretical challenges of protecting women's rights under Shariah Law as it is practiced in Nigeria and beyond. The course will explore the tensions between Rule of Law and Rule of the Law in Shariah States; the question as to whether basic human rights, as defined by international standards, are protected. The outcomes of this course will be a 'white paper' by students on the dialectics of justice and Shariah.
