Power, Politics, and the Female Religious Life
This course examines Catholic female religious communities in Europe and beyond from the sixteenth century to the present. It explores how patterns of growth and decline were tied to the political imperatives of Church and state, and debates questions of female spirituality, vocation, and secularization.
