Description
Surveys history of the Near East from the coming of the steppe peoples to the Ottoman conquest of Egypt. Includes Seljuks, Crusades, Mongols, and the fall of the Abbasid caliphate, Mamluks, the development of Mediterranean and Indian Ocean trade, and the Timurids and their successors. Prerequisite: HDS 3594 helpful, but not required.
Enrollment Limited: Limited to 20 students. Instructor's permission required.
