Promise The Children is a network of Unitarian Universalist advocates for children's issues. We believe that the future of our society depends on the well being of our children today, far too many of whom are living in poverty. We work for systemic change through public policy advocacy by organizing grassroots campaigns with educational events in churches, topical sermons and services, community forums, and a National Alert Network.
Opportunities for Student Involvement:
The student will work directly with the staff in developing the organization and its programs. Specific activities may be selected from the following:
Learning about public policy issues affecting the lives of children and youth and writing action alerts and articles about these issues for the website
Making presentations (including worship) for congregations and youth groups
Organizing interfaith community forums with community groups on issues related to homelessness, cuts in education and other services, etc.
Assisting with the development and promotion of public programs on policy issues
Developing materials for congregational use (for adults or children or both)
