Universalist Unitarian Church of Haverhill
Contact Person(s):Rev. Frank Clarkson
Located in the City of Haverhill we are an urban church in a growing and changing area with great economic and cultural diversity. Our members live and work both in urban and suburban communities. We have a reputation of putting our faith in action for the poor and oppressed in our community. We support a food pantry in our basement, and for a two year period a few years ago, used our space to house the homeless. We are committed to grow from a pastoral to program size church, and the demographics are favorable for us to meet that goal.
Opportunities for Student Involvement:
Our congregation provides a unique opportunity for a student intern who is interested in either parish or community ministry. The student will have the opportunity to assist in the full range of ministerial activities (worship, preaching, pastoral care, religious education, and public ministry) in a congregation actively positioning itself to grow in numbers and as a liberal religious community. A student of community ministry will have the opportunity to participate in an urban congregation's efforts to meet the needs of its community through service and advocacy programs.
No information provided.
Arts of Ministry Competencies Offered:
- Administration and Program Development
- Pastoral Care and Counseling
- Preaching and Worship
- Religious Education and Spiritual Development
The student will meet weekly (for at least one hour) with the supervisor to discuss ministerial development issues and concerns. The supervisor holds Fellowship in both Community and Parish Ministry with the Unitarian Universalist Association. The intern will be considered part of the professional team (Minister, Director of Religious Education, Music Director, and Administrator) and meet weekly with them to discuss program and institutional development issues. An Intern Training Committee composed of three members of the congregation will meet monthly with the student to review and assess the implementation of a mutually agreed upon Learning Contract.
