Fund for Theological Education (FTE) Doctoral and Dissertation Fellowships

The FTE fellowships support talented students from racial and ethnic groups that are traditionally underrepresented in graduate education. Their presence is not only needed to serve an increasingly diverse student body, but to attract and inspire outstanding candidates for pastoral ministry. At FTE, we believe that diversity is crucial to the vitality of the academy, the preparation of leaders and to the Christian church. The program offers three kinds of fellowships:

  • The goal of the Doctoral Fellowship is to recruit more African American doctoral degree candidates and support them in the first year of their graduate programs.
  • The goal of the Dissertation Fellowship is to help African American doctoral students successfully complete their dissertations and move toward faculty positions in theological schools and seminaries.
  • The goal of the North American Doctoral Fellowship is to help talented students from racial and ethnic groups that are traditionally underrepresented in graduate education.
