Professional Networking
Professional networking is one of the most
effective ways to learn about a field, prepare for it, and connect with people who
may help you enter and advance in it. The following are resources available to
you as an HDS student or alumna/us.
Crimson Compass
Crimson
Compass is a free online resource enabling students and alumni/ae of
Harvard to seek career-related advice from approximately 15,000 alumni/ae
advisors from across the University. It is administered by the Harvard Alumni
Association. Please note that some searches with this new version of the
database may currently yield few results. In most cases, this
is due to a need for advisors to update their profiles since the transition from
an older version, not because of a lack of advisors. If you have trouble with your search, please let
us know, as we will likely be able to help you get better results. Also, please be sure to update your own profile
in Crimson
Compass.
Advising
HDS Career Services offers consultations and materials about networking effectively.
Simply contact
us for an appointment or to inquire about materials.
Volunteer Opportunities
If you are an HDS alumna/us who would like to advise or mentor Harvard students or alumni/ae, please
simply create or
update your profile using the central Harvard resource,
Crimson Compass. Please do this even if you had registered prior to 2006 with the HAA
or with HDS as a career advisor or mentor.
If you would like instead, or in addition, to be a resource for career presentations, panels, or
recruiting sessions at HDS, please contact
us to let us know. We would love to hear from you.
