Directions

The Center for the Study of World Religions is easy to find on this interactive map of Harvard University's Cambridge campus. Click on the area near the words "Divinity School" to enlarge that portion of the map, or type the words "world religions" into the Search box.

The CSWR building is located at 42 Francis Avenue in Cambridge, Massachusetts, across the street from Harvard Divinity School's Andover Hall. A 10- to 15-minute walk from Harvard Square, the CSWR is easily reached by public transportation.

By Subway:

The nearest subway ("T") stop to the CSWR is in Harvard Square. Exit at the Harvard stop, which is between Central Square and Porter Square on the MBTA Red Line, and follow the walking directions below.

By Walking:

Harvard Square is at the southwest corner of Harvard Yard. Entering the yard, follow the paved footpaths to exit on the north side. Once outside the Harvard Yard gates, cross between the Science Center and Memorial Hall (there will be a circular arrangement of large stones on your left and a tall, elaborate red brick building on your right). Turn right, following Kirkland Avenue for two blocks. Turn left onto Francis Avenue. The CSWR is located at 42 Francis Avenue.

By Car (via the Massachusetts Turnpike):

After paying the turnpike exit toll, continue into Boston on the turnpike extension, approximately seven miles. Take the Cambridge/Allston exit from the left-hand lane. Take the right-hand fork after passing through the toll booth to cross the river into Cambridge. Proceed straight into Central Square and continue on the same street, which becomes Prospect Street. Turn left on Broadway, the fourth left after Central Square. Drive down Broadway until you are obliged to turn right onto Quincy Street. The modern Sackler Museum is on the right; you are now in the Harvard University area. Quincy Street dead-ends two blocks later at Kirkland Avenue. Turn right, then take the third left onto Francis Avenue. There is a white picket fence at the corner. Drive two blocks. The CSWR, 42 Francis Avenue, is on the right just past the intersection with Bryant Street.

Parking

Public parking is not readily available in the immediate vicinity of the CSWR. There is limited metered parking nearby, on Oxford, Kirkland, and Beacon Streets.
