Applying for Residence

Academic Year Residence

CSWR residents are chosen based on their particular interests in world religions in combination with their potential for substantively contributing to and benefiting from residency at the center. PhD and ThD candidates and fellows at Harvard centers with an interest in world religions are strongly encouraged to apply. Decisions regarding residency are made by the director, in consultation with the assistant director for operations and finance and CSWR staff, and take into consideration the following factors:

  • Reasons for wanting to live at the Center for the Study of World Religions.
  • Ways that your interests might enrich the CSWR community.
  • Representation of field or area of study in the CSWR community of scholars.
  • Desire to actively participate in CSWR residential events and activities.

Applications for residence for the upcoming academic year are accepted from January 1 to April 15. Residency decisions are are announced on April 30. Download the application (pdf).
