Residence at the CSWR
The Center for the Study of World Religions is not only a research facility; it is also a residence. Thirteen apartments are located within the CSWR, and are available for rent by students and affiliates of Harvard University by invitation of the Center. In any given year, the CSWR community is comprised of scholars at varying stages in their academic and professional careers, including graduate students, independent postdoctoral researchers, and senior faculty. This variety, combined with the diversity in our residents' nationalities and religious traditions, makes the CSWR a place to live and learn that is both dynamic and inspiring.
Applications are evaluated on a rolling basis; the roster of residents for the next year is generally decided in April. However, there are often some last-minute adjustments, so it is usually worth applying. CSWR residents are chosen based upon their particular interests in world religions and their potential for contributing to and benefiting from residency at the center. Scholars of religion who have existing connections to Harvard faculty, and who will collaborate with them during the course of their research or study at the University, are particularly encouraged to apply. Residents are expected to participate actively in the CSWR's scholarly and social life.
Because the residential life of the CSWR is centered around the 10-month academic calendar, there are often apartments available for short-term summer rental by Harvard affiliates. Electricity, hot and cold water, and wireless are included in the rental fee.

One unit meets the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements for accessibility. A full description and floor plan of each type of residence can be viewed by following the links below. A summer 2006 renovation project slightly changed the layouts of the apartments, but the amount of space per unit remains the same.
