Religious Healing in Boston: Publications

One of the goals of the CSWR's Religion, Health, and Healing Initiative (2000-04) was to develop a fuller picture of the extent, diversity, and meanings of religious healing in the Boston area. The results of this research were presented at four symposia held between 2001 and 2004. The papers presented at these symposia are available online; the third and fourth are combined in the final volume.

These publications encompass a remarkable variety of religious traditions (including Adventist, Baha'i, Buddhist, Catholic, Christian Science, Episcopal, evangelical Protestant, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim, and Quaker), ethnic communities (including African American, Chinese, Filipino, Korean, Ukrainian, Vietnamese), and issues (including healing from trauma, healing and immigration, and the institutionalization of healing). Many are written collaboratively by faculty and students, and highlight the active contribution of students to a variety of research endeavors.
