Susan Abraham, who joined the faculty in 2007, holds an MA
in theology from Catholic Theological Union in Chicago and an MA in English
from the University of Mumbai, India. Her dissertation, titled "Karl Rahner's Theology of Freedom in a Postcolonial Context," which she wrote
under the guidance of Francis Schüssler Fiorenza at Harvard Divinity School,
was published as Identity, Ethics, and Nonviolence in Postcolonial Theory: A Rahnerian Theological Assessment
(Palgrave Macmillan, 2007). Her current book project is a co-edited anthology
of Catholic feminist reflections on motherhood and globalization, under the
auspices of the Constructive Theology Workshop. She is also working on her
next book, which presents a feminist analysis of cross-cultural religious
beliefs and practices. These research interests present a theoretical and
critical framework for practical theological strategies addressing religious
and multicultural identity claims, ethics, and global relations in
postcolonial contexts.
