Biographical Note:

John Enoch Williams (1877-1976) held many positions in the Universalist Convention of North Carolina. He served as secretary-treasurer in 1915, 1916, 1920, and 1922; he was president from 1925 to 1928; first vice president from 1929 to 1932; trustee in 1924, 1933 to 1934; and he was secretary in 1913, and from 1936 to 1943. He is the author of A History of Universalism in North Carolina (1968).

Scope and Content Note:

The bulk of this collection consists of the records of the Universalist Convention of North Carolina, Inc., 1927-1978. There are also letters from the Universalist General Convention, 1927-1938, and information on churches in North Carolina. Finally, there are materials that include information on Universalism in North Carolina, as well some biographical information on Williams.
