Biographical Information:

Samuel Chenery Damon (1815-1885) was born in Holden, Massachusetts. He graduated from Amherst College in 1836, attended Princeton Theological Seminary in 1838-1839, and graduated from Andover Theological Seminary in 1841. In 1867 he received an honorary doctor of divinity degree from Amherst College. He was ordained to the Congregational ministry in 1841 and served as a missionary to Hawaii for the American Seamen's Friend Society from 1841 until his death in 1885. He was pastor of the Bethel Union Church, Seamen's Chapel (Honolulu) for 42 years and was the editor and publisher of The Friend from 1843 to 1884.

Please note that the author's numbering system is imperfect: many numbers are missing (many of those may be in the miscellaneous section at the end), and many are duplicated.
