New: HOLLIS beta!

HOLLIS has a new look! The new interface provides a fun way to explore Harvard University Library collections. We hope this new system makes it easier to find what you are looking for.

HOLLIS beta is intuitive and user friendly:

  • There's a single search box similar to Google and Amazon.
  • Results can be easily narrowed by library location, topic, date, format, language, and genre.
  • You can find authors by typing first name first or last name first ("Harvey Cox" and "Cox, Harvey" both work).
  • Titles are found even when the initial article is included ("The Accidental Anthropologist" and "Accidental Anthropologist" both work).
  • It corrects spelling errors.
  • Search results also include the display of a word cloud in the left panel. This word cloud shows different associations, variant spellings, and thesaurus terms connected to the search term—all of which suggest additional contexts and pathways for discovering materials.

HOLLIS beta is still under development. The release of a beta version of the catalog is deliberate so that user feedback can be solicited and taken into account in the development of enhancements and improvements.

The older version of HOLLIS has not disappeared, but it has been renamed. It is now called "HOLLIS Classic." HOLLIS Classic will remain until HOLLIS beta is fully functional.

Explore HOLLIS beta and use the feedback link to make your voice heard!
