Welcome, Incoming HDS Students!
We invite you to encounter the historical breadth, cultural diversity, and global scope of religious life and thought in Harvard's amazing library collections. The Andover-Harvard Theological Library is one of the finest theology libraries in the country. We are also part of the largest university library in the world—the Harvard University Library. With 15 million volumes spread over 90 libraries and thousands of electronic resources, this library system has much to offer.
We eagerly await your arrival. Let us inspire you with many possibilities for discovery and research—your research.
Drawing on highly developed knowledge of information resources and technologies, research librarians at the Andover-Harvard Theological Library consult with students, providing factual, quick assistance and in-depth research guidance regarding our collection strengths and other religion resources in the Harvard Libraries.
Orientation Tours: Take a small group tour during Orientation. Let us get to know you, so we may serve you better. Meet our staff and learn your way around the library, including the location of the most comfortable chairs on campus!
If you are unable to take a group tour, contact a research librarian, 617.496.AHTL (2485), for a personal tour.
In addition to tours of the Andover-Harvard Theological Library, on Friday, August 28, at 2:30 or 3:30 pm, join a walking tour of Harvard libraries with significant religion collections.
Student Jobs: If you are looking for a part-time student job in the Andover-Harvard Theological Library, please contact Steven Beardsley (617.495.7754).
