Finding Journals

At Harvard

Go to the Journals tab of the search box on the home page and use Citation Linker to locate journals that are online and in print at any Harvard library. Citation Linker simultaneously searches Harvard’s e-journal subscriptions and HOLLIS.

To use the Citation Linker form, enter the name of the journal. Then, click Find It. The displayed results will provide links to any online versions of the journal as well as a link to HOLLIS that will display any additional print holdings in the Harvard Library. Note that if full text online versions are not available, you may be automatically directed to HOLLIS to check for print availability.

Online and print journals at Harvard may also be discovered by searching in HOLLIS and HOLLIS Classic.

Only online journals at Harvard are listed in the E-Journals list.

Beyond Harvard

If you don’t find the journal at Harvard, use WorldCat to locate the journal at other libraries. WorldCat searches the records of thousands of library collections globally, but primarily in North America. For additional ways to search or filter results in WorldCat, use FirstSearch WorldCat (Harvard ID and PIN required).

Once you have located the record for a journal outside of Harvard, you will generally need to visit that library to view the journal, since most libraries will not lend journals. Microfilmed journals may, however, be available through Interlibrary Loan.

If you’re looking for an article in a journal that is not at Harvard, request only the article by using Interlibrary Loan procedures.
