HDS Leadership Council (April 2007)
Harvard Divinity School hosted the second gathering of its Leadership Council on April 11 and
12, 2007. The meeting was an opportunity for distinguished leaders from
a variety of fields to engage with issues surrounding religion and
contemporary life, and to share their thoughts about how HDS can best
promote public dialogue and wider understanding of religion.
The two-day event included a conversation between 64th Secretary of State
Madeleine K. Albright and Jon Meacham, editor of Newsweek; an address from Harvard's Interim President Derek
Bok; the panel discussions "Religious Studies and Global Understanding"
and "Religious Studies and Informed Leadership"; and a closing address
by St. Hope founder Kevin Johnson, SLI '00.
