Solutions: Emerging Trends in Community Transformation (February 2007)
On February 16, 2007, the Office of Ministry Studies
sponsored a working conference with the goal of developing grassroots
projects for revitalizing urban communities. The conference opened with
these four presentations:

"Community Leadership," with Harold
Sparrow, executive director of the Black Ministerial Alliance of
Greater Boston, Inc.;
-
"Public Education," with Kenneth Reaves,
mayor of Cambridge, Massachusetts, and member of the Cambridge School
Committee;
-
"Violence as an Issue in Public Health,"
with Frederica Williams, president and CEO of Whittier Street Health
Center;
-
"Economic Development and
Entrepreneurship," with Gerald Bell, pastor of Strong Tower
Church, Boston, chairman of the Economic Development Council of the
Black Ministerial Alliance of Greater Boston, and vice chairman of the
Cambridge-Roxbury Business Development Foundation; and Leonardo
Radomile (MDiv 3), executive director of "Put Faith to Work."
