Joanne Engquist Project: Lutheran Campus Ministry at Boston University is a Christian ministry to students, faculty, and staff at Boston University. The ministry has close ties with University Lutheran Church in Harvard Square as well as multi-faith initiatives on the BU campus. For the year 2009-10, the ministry is refocusing its programs and presence on the campus. The campus pastor and divinity school student will work together to build appropriate opportunities to match the ministrys goals with the gifts, energies, and vision of a divinity school student. Student Involvement: Together with the supervisor, the student who will serve as chaplain intern at Boston University will establish priorities based on the student's professional interests and skills as are appropriate to the wider mission of the campus ministry. The intern will have some responsibility for administrative tasks, student outreach and pastoral care, and worship or program leadership. 15 hours per week commitment with some Sundays and weekends a requirement. Arts of Ministry Competencies: Preaching and Worship. Pastoral Care and Counseling. Administration and Program Development. Denominational Polity. Supervision: Individual supervision to be determined with supervisor, weekly or bi-weekly, for a total of at least twenty-eight hours. Number of Students: 1 Total Stipend: $4,000.00 Type of Stipend: site reimburses (sc 4000) Notes: This site is open to students from varied denominations, but priority is given to Lutherans and others with whom the ELCA is in full communion. |
