80 Legion Parkway Contact Person: Rev. Michael W. Walker Project: The Messiah Baptist Church of Brockton is a predominantly Black, inner-city congregation with a lively group of people. Messiah is located in the heart of downtown Brockton and we have a great concern for the people of the city - the schools, the employment, the banking relationships, the economic and community development. An intern would have to be comfortable with an empowerment ministry. Student Involvement: 1) Counseling: individual, group, and family, including grief counseling; 2) Assistant Coordinator of Life Development Center: an after school program for community children; a GED and Adult Basic Education program; fund-raising, development, grant-writing, public relations. Arts of Ministry Competencies: Pastoral Care and Counseling. Religious Education and Spiritual Development. Administration and Program Development. Supervision: The student will meet weekly with the supervisor and bi-weekly with a Teaching Parish Committee for reflection, evaluation and planning.
