25 Central Street Contact Person: Rev. Jeffrey Gill Project: Students at Christ Church, Andover, will have the opportunity to participate in the ministry of a large parish located in a town setting. The congregation includes people from a broad spectrum of ages and from a variety of occupations. The parish has recently been instrumental in founding the Esperanza Academy, www.esperanzaacademy.org, a free-tuition Episcopal middle school for girls in Lawrence, Massachusetts, our neighboring city, now serving 61 students in grades 5-7 and their families. Christ Church offers a broad palette of ministry experiences in the areas of pastoral, liturgical, spiritual formation and outreach ministries. Student Involvement: Students will have the opportunity to gain experience in the leadership of worship, preaching, pastoral care, and chaplaincy at the Esperanza Academy. Terms of Placement: Preference given to Episcopalians who are MDiv students, but open to all interested candidates. 15 hrs/wk. Arts of Ministry Competencies: Preaching and Worship. Pastoral Care and Counseling. Religious Education and Spiritual Development. Administration and Program Development. Denominational Polity. Supervision: Weekly general staff meeting, plus private sessions with the Rector, or the ordained Associate Ministers.
