Project:
Pilgrim Congregational Church, UCC is a mid-size church of 230 adult members and 80 children with an average of 140 in worship. There is strong lay leadership. We enjoy music, offer adult education opportunities several times during the year, and have several active small-group ministries. We participate in mission projects locally and in Honduras and Tar Creek, OK. We host a town-wide, interfaith program called "Room at the Table," that focuses on consciousness-raising about worldwide issues of poverty or disaster and helps raise funds to address those needs.
The youth group meets for occasional events. We encourage our intern to gain experience with this age group but qualified lay leaders are in charge.
The congregation of Pilgrim Church is serious about its relationship with seminarians. We regard the Teaching Parish Ministry as one of our special callings. The position offers a wide range of pastoral opportunities frequent preaching, pastoral care, administration, worship, education. There is a strong Teaching Parish Committee which meets with the student each month to offer her or him guidance and support. The congregation as a whole is committed to the mission of being a laboratory for seminary education.
Weekly supervision is honored and taken seriously by the pastor.
