Second Church is an active 510 member mainline suburban congregation. Church school averages 75 children attending; Jr. and Sr. High Youth Fellowships average 10-20 each. The "Seminarian" position has had varied goals and objectives over the years, depending on the meshing of the needs of the Church and those of the student. Two recent HDS students processed for Ordination in the UCC through this site.
Student
Involvement: Generally, students have been afforded the broadest possible range of pastoral experiences including: 1) Serving as liturgist most Sunday mornings; 2) preaching at least 3 times during the year; 3) involvement with Youth Fellowships with Associate Pastor; 4) participation, as possible, in twice-monthly staff meetings; 5) opportunities in Christian Education, Confirmation, Board or Committee processes, as desired.
Weekly Schedule: Sunday morning Worship is at 9:30; seminarian should arrive by 9:00. Adult Education, and youth programs generally run until 12:00 or 1:00 p.m.
Terms of Placement: $4,000 for the academic year, transportation expenses additional. Weekend housing and meals can be arranged with parishioners.

Supervision: Schedule as noted above; goals and objectives mutually agreed upon. Pastoral Relations Subcommittee of Diaconate also available.
