Social Action Ministries (SAM) is a faith-based initiative of the Massachusetts Housing and Shelter Alliance (MHSA) that is committed to creating spiritual and moral agitation to end homelessness. Members and supporters of SAM are motivated by spiritual and social values to uphold the dignity of each person. We exist to promote the collaboration of various social and religious organizations to respond to issues of injustice, poverty, homelessness, and hunger.
SAM is an interfaith organization aiding and facilitating the community's response to hungry and homeless people. Through its partnership with MHSA, Social Action Ministries has worked with the religious community to win state and federal resources targeted to the homeless. Starting in 2002, SAM will offer technical assistance services for faith-based organizations statewide to increase porduction of permanent housing, increase access for the homeless to housing opportunities, and provide consulting to organization seeking to increase their capacity to build and manage permanent housing targeted to the homeless.
