Project: St. Mark's School is a four-year independent secondary school that, since its founding in 1865, has been closely associated with the Episcopal Church. Today, students represent a variety of religious traditions and faith perspectives. Ministry at St. Mark's reflects a commitment to the maintenance and valuing of the school's rich religious, racial, and cultural diversity. A year long course in religious studies is required of all students. This course requirement can be completed in either the 10th, 11th, or 12th grade. St. Mark's School is coeducational and enrolls 320 boarding and day students, all of whom are involved in preparation for entrance to highly competitive colleges and universities. A quarter of the students receive financial assistance.

Student Involvement: A field education student at St. Mark's School will assist in worship services, as well as with various outreach and community service programs. In addition, he/she will work with the students and faculty of the school. Working with the Senior Chaplain, the student will be part of staff planning connected with both the programs in religious education and the liturgical life of the school. Responsibilities will demonstrate the variety of work that is involved in a secondary school chaplaincy program. The student must provide his/her own transportation, and be willing to work during HDS vacation periods, when those vacations occur during St. Mark's School's academic year.

Arts of Ministry Competencies: Preaching and Worship. Pastoral Care and Counseling. Religious Education and Spiritual Development. Administration and Program Development.

Supervision: Student will be supervised by the Senior Chaplain.
