Project: The Criminal Justice Program has been able to increase community concern about prison and the role prison plays in our lives by focusing on the impact that the criminal justice system has on people who are left behind. Through this process, communities in Boston are redefining the criminal justice paradigm and developing consensus towards the abolition of prisons.

Student Involvement: An intern for this program will choose from the activities of the program and work in coordination with staff on one or two long term projects. This will involve setting up community meetings, facilitating workshops, work withing families and friends of prisoners and responding to prisoner's letters. The following are project areas of the justice program:

1. Mamoms - Collaboration with Louis D. Brown Peace Institute bringing mothers who have lost their children to murder together with mothers who have lost their children to the prison system.

2. District 7 Round Table - Monthly community education project focusing on ML King's Triple Evils (Militarism, Materialism, and Racism). www.fundthedream.org

3. The Re-entry Working Group - A group of formerly incarcerated individuals working to develop programming for returning prisoners.
