This urban (Back Bay) church is a federated UCC/Presbyterian congregation. The congregation's major commitments include a sister church relationship in Nicaragua, involvement in the Greater Boston Interfaith Organization, use of inclusive language and being an Open and Affirming/More Light church.
The position offered can be designed to meet the needs of the student, within certain parameters. Assisting with a growing Young Adult Ministry, including a monthly midweek dinner and worship service aimed at young adults would desirable. Some assistance with youth education, adult education and small group ministries would also be desirable. There is also the possibility of working with our weekend drop-in Food Pantry and the Greater Boston Interfaith Organization.
Student
Involvement: Interest in urban ministry, social justice and progressive theology, cultivation of relationships in a faith community.
Arts of Ministry Competencies:
Preaching and Worship.
Pastoral Care and Counseling.
Religious Education and Spiritual Development.
Administration and Program Development.
Supervision: Regular meetings with supervisor; every other month meetings with a parish group. Consultation with food cupboard coordinator if that is an aspect of the work. Supervision includes reflection on ministry experiences and spiritual and professional developmental issues as related to work being done.
