Project: Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Chaplain Intern Program.The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is a comprehensive cancer center and a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School. The Dana-Farber is a world leader in cancer research and treatment for children and adults. An interdisciplinary team of professionals upholds its mission statement, "Dedicated to Discovery ... Committed to Care".

Student Involvement: Chaplain Interns provide pastoral care to patients, families and staff. They will have the opportunity to work with an interdisciplinary health care team in addressing the spiritual, emotional and ethical issues that arise as a result of serious illness. Key components of the program will be pastoral ministry to people in crisis, developing listening skills and theological reflection. Chaplain interns are expected to minister to people of their own and other religious traditions in ways congruent with the religious traditions of those persons seeking spiritual care.

Arts of Ministry Competencies: Preaching and Worship. Pastoral Care and Counseling.

Supervision: Weekly individual and group supervision; verbatims and reflection papers. 12-15 hours per week during the academic year. 35-40 hours per week for summer international placement in Germany (Proficiency in German language required.)

Four to six on-call overnights at the Brigham and Women's Hospital. Additional departmental opportunities are available to write for quarterly publication or record for the spirituality channel.
