Project:
First Church in Belmont is a liberal congregation of 365 adult members and has a strong and well-balanced program of worship, religious education, music and community involvement.
Student
Involvement: Student will engage in many aspects of parish ministry. The tasks agreed upon will depend on the student's experience, interests and background and the needs of the Minister and the Church. Expectations of the student include: familiarity with UU tradition and values; strong interest in parish ministry and religious education, readiness to give of self to others, ability to respect confidences; genuine caring and respect for others.
Weekly schedule: Sundays, other times as necessary.
Arts of Ministry Competencies:
Preaching and Worship.
Pastoral Care and Counseling.
Religious Education and Spiritual Development.
Denominational Polity.
Supervision: Weekly meeting (1 hr.) between student and supervisor will provide an opportunity to assess how the experience is moving toward the agreed upon goals, to reflect theologically upon ministry and to clarify aspects of church life.
