Project: The First Parish, founded in 1698, is a vigorous suburban church with strong social action and religious education programs. A Unitarian Universalist Christian church with 660 adult members and 200 children, it maintains a partner church relationship with the 400-year-old Unitarian Church in Torda, Romania. Field placement is planned to provide the student with experience in many aspect of church life and with opportunities for theological reflection on this experience.

Student Involvement: The student is expected to spend 12-15 hours weekly in the parish. Tasks: assist in worship services and preach at least 3 times; conduct worship for children occasionally; advise a youth group; make pastoral calls; work on a project of the student's own choosing.

Arts of Ministry Competencies: Preaching and Worship. Pastoral Care and Counseling. Religious Education and Spiritual Development. Administration and Program Development.

Supervision: Supervision involves a weekly meeting of supervisor and intern to discuss and evaluate the progrss of the student's program. Student meets regularly wih the Intern Committee and occasionally with the Religious Education Committee.

Total Stipend: $5,000.00
