Lexington UMC is located about 10 miles to the west of Harvard Divinity School, in a historic suburban community. During the past 25 years the town has become increasingly affluent, and much more ethnically diverse. Church membership has declined during this period, but the congregation shares its facility with a rapidly growing Korean church. The congregation is renowned for its progressive theological outlook and social justice activism. It has a long-standing missional connection to a sister church in Nicaragua. Several years ago the church became a Reconciling Congregation.
