Brighton Allston Congregational Church United Church of Christ is an urban congregation that enjoys its ministry in the thick of community in the vibrant Brighton Allston section of Boston. Our very diverse neighborhood (which is 26% non-anglo, with an average age of 37) matches that of our Open and Affirming congregation of 60 members (with 40-45 active each week for worship). There is a great flow between the congregation and our Wednesday Community Supper with 50-75 folks dining together each week. We also minister in the community with an active food bank, thrift shop, Summer Bible School and AA meetings. Located on the 86 and 57 bus lines we have easy access to Harvard Square.

Involvement: For someone wanting to become immersed in genuine urban ministry with all its down to earth joys and challenges, the opportunities available to serve God here in Brighton Allston include:
1) worship leadership and preaching (our music leader also plays in a jazz group and
provides wonderful worship music),
2) pastoral care and counseling (with parishioners and through our community supper),
3) spiritual development (through formation of small group ministries),
4) ministry with children (following up on our Summer Bible School),
5) training in administration through our boards (needed to oversee our ministries),
6) organizing of special projects (such as our Concert Series and Youth Opportunity Boston), and
7) reaching out into the community around concerns of social justice and evangelism.
We would want to know where the student's "growing edges" are and thus develop their weekly responsibilities as we discern the movement of the Spirit among us.
