Project: We prefer to work with a half time intern over two church years. The growth in development and range of experience is greater, it grounds the student more fully in the seasons of congregational life and with the congregants, and provides full-time (weekly) supervision over a longer period of time.

The student will participate in accordance with his or her development needs in the life of an active midsize church community. This would include "hands-on" experience in preaching and worship construction, religious education administration and teaching, oversight of and involvement with pastoral care and counseling, youth and adult courses or programs, some staff meetings, work with the lay leaders, and social action oversight and participation

This church offers a multiple-staff experience and serves a wide range of ages and family situations. The congregation of 300+ adults, 225 children and 50 youth, is well-educated, moderately affluent, and known for its love of sacred music, and its well-developed religious education and youth programs, and its interest in spiritual development.

Student Involvement: Students are expected to be open-minded, insightful, willing to provide written and oral self-reflections for supervision, and able to cope with a variety of situations in an effectively flexible manner.

Arts of Ministry Competencies: Preaching and Worship. Pastoral Care and Counseling. Religious Education and Spiritual Development. Administration and Program Development. Public Leadership, Community Organizing and Planning. Denominational Polity.

Supervision: Weekly meetings of student and supervisor will focus on the student's specific experiences. There will be emphasis on the integration of the theological with the practical aspects of ministry. The student will also interact with various committees and have a professional development (support) committee.

Number of Students: 2

Total Stipend: $4,000.00
