Solutions: Emerging Trends in Community Transformation

The objective of the "Solutions" conference is not simply to communicate ideas about community transformation, but also to involve those attending in networking and in challenging one another to be innovative.  

Below is an example of the 2008 Solutions conference schedule and process:

Conference Schedule and Process (2008 Example)

8 am          Gathering and coffee
8:30 am    Welcome and introductions
9 am          Presentations of project finalists
11:30 am  Break
11:45 am  Marketplace of ideas

Participants will briefly outline project ideas that build on issues raised by presenters and form small groups to discuss proposed projects.

12:30 pm   Lunch
1:30 pm     Break-out sessions

Potential project proposal groups will meet in break-out rooms. Each group will begin to establish a rough outline of their project, identify a final list of participants, and make plans for putting together a final proposal.

2:30 pm     Brief closing remarks
3 pm           Dismissal

Follow-up

  • Final proposals (3 to 5 pages) are submitted.
  • Responses to proposals and awards announced.
  • Selected finalists agree to:
    • Submit project updates three times a year.
    • Present their project at the following years' conference.
    • Receive an honoraria at the conclusion of the following years' conference.
