Non-Harvard Housing
Most Divinity School students rent apartments from private landlords in Cambridge, Somerville, or
one of the surrounding communities. Prices and quality vary. Preliminary searching can be done online, but we strongly advise students to see an apartment in person before making a commitment. We recommend that students begin apartment hunting in early summer for the following fall.
Advantages: The private market offers greater variety and flexibility, and in many cases will yield more affordable options than Affiliated Housing.
Getting Started
The Harvard Housing Office (in addition to administering Affiliated Housing) maintains an online database with listings of hundreds of rental units offered by private landlords and real estate agents, and this database can be searched at no cost from any computer with internet access:
