Research Project
Violent Death and Devotion: Heroic Sacrifice and Gender in India
Based on ethnographic research in Rajasthan, India, this book investigates women's traditions of hero veneration and examines representations of gender in ritual performances and in various narrative and non-narrative genres, including women's and men's songs, epics, legends, and myths.
