Research Project
Born Again Bodies: American Christianity and Disciplines of the Flesh
This project traces religiously motivated body practices, particularly pertaining to dietary regimen, in modern American history. It investigates the complicated alliances between Christian piety and cultural ideals of gender, race, and ethnicity in somatic terms.
