Reading Derrida I: Writing, The Law, and The Gift

Description

The course will focus on selected essays by philosopher Jacques Derrida, read against the background of the philosophical, theological, and literary texts with which he is engaged. Readings will include work by Immanuel Kant, Soren Kierkegaard, Walter Benjamin, and J.L. Austin, as well as by Derrida.
