HDS 2709
Queer Theology
Mark D. Jordan
Description
According to one narrative, the encounter or collision of feminist, liberationist, and erotic theologies with queer theory has produced something called queer theology. Wherever it comes from, whatever its exact genealogy, queer theology has attracted or claimed writers working on the whole range of Christian topics, from scriptural exegesis or doctrines of God to ethics and liturgy. This course will attempt both to sample what has been written and to speculate about what might be written next. Readings will include whole works or substantial sections of them by Althaus-Reid, Goss, Isherwood, Loughlin, Stone, Stuart, Ward, and others.
