Classical Rabbinic Literature in Translation

Description
This course examines the texts of late ancient Rabbinic Judaism with emphasis on literary features. The primary focus is aggadah (non-legal material), including biblical interpretation concerning the Exodus and the revelation at Sinai, and passages from the Babylonian Talmud concerning mysticism, magic, miracles, martyrdom, myth, and dream interpretation. Readings in English translation.
