Creation, Eros, Cosmos: Feminist Perspectives on Creation and Eschatology

Susan Abraham

Description

What is the role of symbolic consciousness in dealing with the boundaries of human existence? Christian cosmogonies are revelatory narratives of the nature of the human being, the nature and extent of life and the meaning and experience of finitude. These narratives of Origins and Ends however, are marked by spatial and temporal metaphors shot through with masculinist notions of primordiality, original innocence, separation, dualism and order. Can feminist constructive theological, proposals counter the deleterious effects of a masculinist imaginary for our world, its present and its future? Readings will engage systematic and doctrinal perspectives on creation and eschatology as well as feminist critiques and constructive theologies of creation and eschatology.
