Reconciliation in a World of Violence: Seminar

Susan Abraham

Description

Can religious sources for reconciliation make a difference in a world riven with religiously sanctioned violence against women, dissenters and religious others? Communities of faith around the world creatively engage the practical theological questions raised by pluralism, gender violence, cultural and ideological hegemonies and global militarism with constructive theological strategies to counter narrow interpretations of identity, ethics, and community. Christian (in particular Roman Catholic), Hindu (in particular Gandhian and neo-Gandhian strategies), Buddhist and Islamic faith communities and their attempts to reconcile the forces of violence will provide the blueprint for global practitioners of religion.
