Introduction to the Histories, Theologies, and Practices of Christianity

Emily Click and Dan McKanan

Description

This course offers a historical, theological, and practice-based introduction to Christianity that is accessible to students of diverse religious backgrounds. We will explore key episodes in Christian history and central themes of Christian theology, consistently highlighting diversities of culture, ideology, gender, and practices that have characterized Christianity throughout its history. We will also use ministerial case studies to help students relate the Christian tradition to its contemporary expressions and develop the reflective practices that are essential to a learned ministry. The course is required for first year MDiv students, but is open to students from other programs. It may only be taken for a letter grade.
