"Looking toward the new century, in a world in which old borders and old assumptions no longer hold, there are few topics so obviously in need of being more fully understood than religion, gender, and women. Whether the issue is religion and nationalism, or religious fundamentalism—of any complexion, Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Hindu—or pluralism, understanding the role of women and the significance and construction of gender are key. The Women's Studies in Religion Program is unique in supporting the study of these most urgent and critical questions of our day."

-Leila Ahmed
Victor S. Thomas Professor of Divinity
Harvard Divinity School

Because of the broad implications of the Program's research, it has attracted interest beyond the traditional academic and alumni communities. WSRP communities of individuals interested in promoting the scholarship of the Program extend far beyond Harvard Yard. You can find a WSRP community in Denver and New York City, in Scarsdale and Vail and in many other towns and cities throughout the country—and now a virtual community wherever you are.

Members of WSRP communities are part of an unprecedented partnership between a network of international scholars and a national network of business, civic, and philanthropic leaders who are involved with women's issues. The cross-pollination of these two networks gives greater potential for advancing a national policy agenda and action on behalf of women.
