Carol B. Duncan is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Religion and Culture at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Trained in sociology of religion and cultural studies, she is a graduate of the University of Toronto (BA) and York University (MA and PhD). Her areas of interest include Caribbean religions, the African Diaspora, Caribbean immigration to North America, and religion and popular culture. She has published numerous articles on the Spiritual Baptist religion in Canada, black Caribbean women's religious experiences, and race, gender, and cultural representation in film and video. 

In the 2006-07 academic year, she was a visiting associate professor and research associate in the Women's Studies in Religion Program at HDS. A dedicated educator, her teaching has been recognized with several awards, fellowships, and lectureships in Canada and the United States. Professor Duncan is co-author of Black Religious Studies: An Introduction (Abingdon Press, 2007) and author of This Spot of Ground: Spiritual Baptists in Toronto (Wilfrid Laurier University Press, 2008). She consulted on, and appears in, the award-winning documentary film, Seeking Salvation: A History of the Black Church in Canada (2004). Her current research interests includes, Fashioning the Sacred: A Study of Clothing, Religion and Visual Culture in the Caribbean Diaspora, and the forthcoming, co-authored book Black Religion, Culture, and Society (Abingdon Press) with Alton B. Pollard III.
