#  Graduate Profile: Courtney Godwin, MDiv '23

**Favorite Class or Professor**

My favorite class was "Apocalyptic Grief." There was so much interest in the class that I did not end up in the official class with Matt Potts. Instead, I joined a reading and research group based on the class with three other HDS students. Each week we read a novel and discussed themes of apocalypse and hope over kosher, vegetarian, and gluten-free homemade dinners. I also loved Stephanie Paulsell's class on Virginia Woolf and will be ever grateful to the Zoom community we formed. Though not officially an accredited class, the Harry Potter and the Sacred Text Cambridge group has weekly meetings and readings. This group regularly inspires me to think deeper and apply what I learn to my life in concrete ways. Each week is a new joy!

**Message of Thanks**

I would like to thank my roommates, Ashlyn, Martha, and Maya, for being insane and putting up with my insanity. I have loved creating a home together. We truly should have a sit-com, except we would probably be the only ones laughing at it. Thank you to my senior seminar group: Aliza, Joelle, Justin, Mac, Nicole, Patrick, and Shao Wei, and our TF Harry. Thank you to my colleagues and friends in both of my field ed positions. In the HDS Office of Religious and Spiritual Life, Sophia, AJ, and Chris, and at Harvard Memorial Church, Harriet, Elizabeth, and Cheyenne. I am thankful to the Harvard Pops Orchestra for accepting a weird graduate student into their ranks and keeping me young at heart. I am always grateful to my family for supporting and loving me endlessly!

**What I Hope to Be Remembered By**

I hope to be remembered for reading "Goodnight Moon" during my thesis presentation!

**Future Plans**

I will be moving back to Atlanta to continue my work as coordinator of programming initiatives at the Society of Biblical Literature.
