Russell C. Powell is a research associate for the [Transcendentalism Initiative](https://cswr.hds.harvard.edu/research-programming/transcendentalism) at Harvard Divinity School's Center for the Study of World Religions. His research is on the religious, ethical, and political resonances of contemporary environmental issues, particularly the religious dimension of American environmental thought.
